Rank High In Google without PR & Backlinks

April 23rd, 2010 4 comments

What ??? Ranking in google search results without page rank or backlinks?

Yes ! Sounds hard but it’s true and you can do this. To understand what i mean to say by saying “Rank high in Google without PR or backlinks”, first of all lets understand what actually search engine is and what they do.

In simple words, search engines index the web pages available all around the world in their own database related to some keywords or key phrase. When you search for the particular phrase or keyword, it will show you the latest results indexed in database and related to that keyword or phrase.

Now the problem is here, Major search engines like Google, yahoo, msn are fighting hard to be at the top in serving relevant results to users, and at the other end, internet is growing at the lightning speed and thousands of websites and new web pages are coming on each day, which made search engines difficult to index all the data in their own database.

So what the search engine will do here ?

Google will index only most relavent and unique content in it’s database to reduce the size of database, and will neglect all spam, duplicate and not much of important content from Google’s index. To check my word just visit the Google and search for any keyword. Let us take an example and search for “SEO Tips” in Google without double quotes.

Here you will see some thing like “Results 1100 of about 13,500,000 for seo tips, ( i have saved 100 results per page in my Google search preference), now see the magic, when you will go to the page no. 10 of this search result, it should show results 901-1000, but it is not so, results are “Results 901975 of about 13,700,000 for seo tips“, so where is all that 13,700.000 results?

Here Google has indexed only 975 results out of 13 million results out there on internet. Google thinks that only these 975 pages are relevant to search term “seo tips” and remaining are duplicate, spam or less useful content.

Lets get back to the first page of search results. (use mozilla firefox browser with seoquake plugin installed and activated), SEO quake plugin will show you all seo data of search results including google PR. You can see that many search results has 0 or 1 google pr but still ahead of those having higher Google PR. That’s the thing i was talking about.

Google pr is nothing but totally base on backlinks, if you have no backlink means you have google PR 0, but it does not mean that your web page is not important and can not be eligible to list on google’s first result page. Whole thing is that “If your page is imformative, relavent and you think is more informative then those listed on first page, you will surely rank on first page very soon”

Unique, informative and relevant article (Keyword rich) is only the key to rank high in Google search results.

Move Site to new domain without affecting Google Ranking and SEO

Things to take care when moving the site to new domain

It takes quiet a lot of effort and time to gain higher ranking in Google search engine results. Now if you want to move your site to the new domain, you can’t afford to loose the rank gained in Google search results. So below are the few tips which can be helpful to you to transfer your site to new domain without loosing the Google ranking.

  • Suppose to be planning to move the site to a new domain may be to re-brand or re-design it, this can be done are two easy steps: first move your site to new domain and second launch the redesign. Thus there is smooth flow from old site to new site, and the visitors of the site even don’t feel something unusual about it. Also following a step-wise process make it easy to troubleshoot if any unexpected errors occur
  • You can use 301 redirect codes to show that your page has been permanently moved to new location. You can use this to transfer the site completely to new domain. This will help to make the search engines and the users aware that the site’s location is changed completely. And if possible we recommend you to just transfer a small section of the site and then check whether all the redirects are working well or not, and then transfer the whole site.
  • Never ever try to redirect all the pages of the old site to the home page of the new site. This probably will avoid a “Page Not Found” error, but will harness the user’s experience with the site. Just make sure that all the pages of the the old site link properly to the page having similar content on the new site. Also going for page-to-page redirect will help you to maintain the Google search engine ranking gained by the page.
  • Also check that all your external and internal links are working well. Contact all the web-masters who have a link to your site and ask them to set their link to your new site. If this is not feasible option then have a check that all your incoming links are directed to new domain. Also have a similar check for internal links that all are proper and pointing to right page. You can use a third party tool to check there are no broken links in your new site.
  • To prevent any confusion between your old site and new site, retain your older domain for at least 180 days.
  • Use the “change of address” tool of Google web-master to make them aware of the new site.
  • Also verify the ownership of the new site by using the “add the site” tool of Google web-master.
  • Also have a “Sitemap” of your new site generated and submit it to Google, to make it aware of the new links and pages.

Once this is done, you need to check whether all is running well or not. You can use the Google web-master tool to verify that all is working as per the structure or not.

  • You can have a look at the web-crawlers and check that whether there is proper redirect 301 from your old site or not? Whether is there any “page not found” error displayed in the new site?
  • Also if you have the sitemap of the new site submitted to Google, you can have a look at the “Sitemap Detail Page” to see what all pages are indexed and crawled.

Thus, moving a site to new domain is not that tough. Having gone through the above advice you can easily do it for yourself now. Also there are various free third-party tools available that can assist you in your work and make it simpler. Still if you have any queries, you can post it in the form of comment to this and we will respond to it as soon as possible.

  • Have English as major language: Try to post and write articles that are written only in English, as you get maximum traffic from the english readers and it is widely accepted language, and mostly supported by all browsers and sites.
  • Stay away from stale news: Never try to post anything that the readers already know and it’s a past now. Always try to bring something new for the readers and visitors.
  • Have your facts checked: Whenever you post anything that have facts and figures associated with it, twice check it before submitting the article so that no one can question you in the future.

Alexa Rank – Learn SEO Tutorial

April 14th, 2010 No comments

It is basically a measure, which tells us how popular a website is on the internet. The rank is given on the basis of the visitors to the site and the page views of the site. Normally the data that is used to give the ranking is basically of past 3 months.  But to measure it we need to have the alexa toolbar installed in the explorer.

Eg: If the Alexa rank of the site is “75,000”, it means there are 75,000 sites on the Internet that drives more traffic and visitors than our site. Can’t be sure of its 100% accuracy, but it does provide the relevant data about the site.
